Girdwood Art Institute presents No Starving Artists at the Out North Fringe Festival. Featuring performances by Athena Nuff and Synclaire Butler. Light refreshments starting at 6:30PM with performance from 7-8 pm, followed by a community potluck . Community members are invited to bring a dish to share. This is an 18+ event that is free and open to the public.

Bombastic iconoclastic performing artists Bitch and Slanty Eyed Mama bring an inspiring new show of comedy, spoken word, rock n roll and all round rebellion about how to be in the world and kick ass on your own terms. Both are international touring artists who have forged the own path in response to all the isms and phobias and ogynies the world has slapped them with for living outside the mainstream. Both are fueled by electric violin and intense lyricism that makes their individual performances unforgettable genre busting events. They are joining forces to compare notes and perform the best of their works which defy stereotypes, create new paths and firmly uplift the idea of being whoever it is you wanna be in this world. Join us for an uplifting, evening of badassery and cultural revolution!

In partnership with the Anchorage International Film Festival, Out North presents “Quantum Cowboys”. Two hapless drifters, Frank and Bruno, team up with Linde to recover her land and trek across 1870's Southern Arizona to find an elusive frontier musician. The complex quantum time theory is blended with philosophical musings about art as the way we understand our history and memories, with gunfights, horses, dance halls, cacti, and saloons! Starring Kiowa Gordon, Lily Gladstone, John Way, David Arquette, Frank Mosle. Directed by Geoff Marslett. Run time: 1hr 39min

What would a polar bear say if he could rap? What about an Ancestor that traveled so far from the past that it became the future again? Join Iñupiaq artist Allison Akootchook Warden as she raps as AKU-MATU, over beats that are unique as they contain samples of traditional Iñupiaq songs.
