Images of Youth Summer 2008
Session #1
with Begich Middle School Teaching Artist Betsy Douds
May 27th to June 13th 9am-1pm M-F
In November 2007 performers and educators Leilani Chen and Ova Saopeng, while in Anchorage performing “Refugee Nation” at Out North, did community outreach with a group of youth at the new Begich Middle School in East Anchorage. From that outreach has sprung an Out North-Begich Middle School collaboration theatre program with actor and educator Betsy Douds. Out North is making plans to bring Betsy to our building for an early summer youth program.
Session #2
with Robert Karimi & John Castro
July 7th to July 17th 9am - 1pm MF
Out North’s multi-media summer program “Images of Youth” has been instructed by performer and educator Robert Karimi for 4 years. This summer his co-collaborator from "Cooking con Karimi (con Castro)" John Castro will be returning to Out North to assist him.
Cost for Out North youth programs are on a sliding scale with full scholarships available.
Out North is of the belief, that a healthy youth is more productive, so we provide breakfast, snacks and lunch for all youth during our programs through the Alaska Department of Education & Early Develoment's Alaska Summer Food Service Program for Children.
