APRIL 23 COMMUNITY MEETING TO FOCUS ON THE FUTURE

Out North will hold a public meeting about the future of the organization on Sunday, April 23rd, starting at 1pm with registration from 12:30pm. Everyone is welcome; participation is free and free refreshments will be provided.

The ON board and staff invite all stakeholders as well as the greater community to be part of the planning for the future of this arts, education, community development, and social change organization. With an international reputation for innovative programs for underserved Alaskans, ON will soon embark on an exciting new chapter as it enters its 22nd year under new leadership.

The community meeting will be facilitated by Tim Wilson, Executive Director of the Western Arts Alliance and former Executive Director of the Alaska State Council on the Arts. He has extensive experience working with a diverse range of nonprofit organizations in Alaska and the Lower 48.

The Rev. Dianne O’Connell, board chair, will begin Sunday’s discussion by addressing the board’s commitment to the future of ON. An overview will be provided of the ON mission, values, history, and programs.

Participants will be asked to bring to the meeting their hearts and their brains, and to share their most memorable ON experience or defining moment. (Those who are unable to attend are encouraged to send their reflections on how ON is important to them to art@outnorth.org. Emailed messages will be read aloud at the meeting by local actors.) This will be a chance for everyone to share stories, and learn about opportunities for helping the board continue the progressive cultural work of ON.

The meeting will address concerns expressed by community members following the news that founding co-directors Gene Dugan and Jay Brause are leaving ON and Alaska this fall. Learn more here.

Sunday’s meeting will include open discussions about how stakeholders can assist in implementing a Succession Plan that honors the founders and the organization they developed over two decades. Brause and Dugan will continue in their positions through September 30, 2006, the end of the fiscal year. The ON board will begin an executive search this summer with an announcement in the JOBS section of www.outnorth.org

NEW ONLINE TICKETING & DONATIONS

Following two years of successful online ticketing through an external web site service, we have re-designed the ON web site and incorporated our own secure ticketing and secure donation forms. In the past, credit card billings for tickets have listed the name of another ticket provider. Now your credit card bill will show Out North as the provider, making it easier for you to keep track of your ticket purchases and tax-deductible contributions.

You can use debit cards, check cards, Visa and MasterCard to make your secure online purchases and donations.

Even with the online service fee ($1/ticket) your online purchase will be cheaper than purchasing a ticket at the door. Please note that ON tickets are not sold by phone or in person in advance. The ON box office will open 30 minutes before performances for in-person sale for that performance only, and you may use cash, check, debit card, Visa or MasterCard at the box office.

Purchase online 24/7 and print your tickets at home. No printer? Just write down your confirmation code and give it to the ticket taker.

Free exchanges may be made online – and only online -- if the ticket holder needs to switch into another showing of the same event. There will be no charge for online exchanges when switching for a ticket with the same or lower price.

Thank you for your support of ON’s 21st season!
