VSA Alaska at Out North, Alaska's premier creator and presenter of contemporary arts for
social change, seeks an experienced non-pro€t manager with strong organizational and
systems management expertise.

VSA Alaska at Out North operates year-round multi-cultural, community-based performance,
visual art, and €lm programs. We seek a highly organized leader with the experience, skills
and demeanor to help guide this $300,000 organization through continued and steady
growth.

Job Summary
• Reporting to Executive Artistic Director, the Of€ce /Operations Manager (OM) will
coordinate the day-to-day and overall organization operations, including of€ce administration,
scheduling, grant and contract deadlines, communications, and human resources.
• The OM has 1-3 part-time direct reports, several independent contractors, and co-manages
a team of volunteers with Facility Manager and Board Members.
• The OM is a leader, responsible for maintaining an effective team. This is a newly created

Job Requirements
• VSA Alaska at Out North seeks a seasoned leader and organizational manager, able to work
closely with the Executive Artistic Director to help ensure the future success of the company.
• The chosen candidate will demonstrate strong leadership acumen, exhibit effective
organizational and solid interpersonal skills – including a track record for leading,
managing and developing a team – and have excellent time management skills.
• A strong candidate excels at balancing multiple tasks and the demands of working in a
uid, fast-paced environment.
• The successful candidate will most likely demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to
lead VSA Alaska at Out North’s mission for social change through the arts, in addition to a
love of details, spreadsheets and systems. This is a small, lean organization where all staff
play a direct, hands-on role.

• Desire to make social change through the arts and humanities.
• Knowledge of community organizations and resources, along with excellent networking

• Interest in, commitment and ability to learn new things.
• Attention to detail with ability to see the big picture.
• Resourcefulness and entrepreneurial spirit.
• Delightfully persuasive, outgoing and €rmly diplomatic personalities are a plus.
• Experience working in lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender, racially and socioeconomically diverse, and disability
communities helpful.
• Proven track record of savvy business acumen, including the ability to balance the delivery of programs
against the realities of a budget; problem solving, project management and creative resourcefulness.
•Exhibit stamina and a strong work ethic, as well as the exibility to deal with unpredictable pressures and a
variable ow of work activity; enjoys working hard and looks for challenges; proactive.
Quali€cations
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in management functions, speci€cally grant management and oversight
(preferably in an arts or community organizing organization).
• Pro€ciency in Word, Excel, and Access required.
• Strong personnel management and supervising skills.
• Strong creative, strategic and analytical skills.
• Ability to thrive in a creative atmosphere while maintaining a smooth operating environment.
• Ability to cheerfully manage multiple projects and priorities at a time.
• Grant management experience.
• Familiarity with IT, databases, social networking, and/or Google Apps a plus.

Compensation
•$23-25k DOE
•2 weeks paid vacation plus all Federal holidays
•Casual workplace
