ON owns and operates a 10,000 square-foot facility in the Airport
Heights/Russian Jack Park residential neighborhood of East Anchorage.
The largest space in the building is a BLACK BOX STUDIO with flexible
seating and staging for performances, screenings, visual art
installations, and other activities. The total floor space (including
audience seating area) measures 30’x53’ with 13’ floor
to grid. (Typical playing area is 18’x30’.) The floor
surface is carpet over concrete. The studio is equipped with theatrical
lighting (24 channels), sound, and digital projection. Audience capacity
ranges up to 99 seats, depending upon platform configuration and the
needs of the artist.
Exhibitions and other activities are held in the
WHITE BOX STUDIO, with more than 100 lineal feet of wall space
and an 18’ ceiling.
The floor surface is carpet over wood. With a gallery track
lighting system, the 1000 square-foot space can be used for
major visual art installation work as well as lectures, readings
and receptions.
Digital editing takes place in the MEDIA ART LAB. It is equipped
with a work station for Final Cut Pro and other applications.
Additional spaces include box office, storage, rehearsal space, administrative
offices, and a hallway used for wall-hung visual art. A small but
colorful garden is tended by volunteers.
ON maintains a year-round program of artist activities and audience
activities in these spaces. When available, space can be rented
by ON members for other community activities, as well as for private
functions. For details call 279.8099.
